I Left Behind, a Home - Hope

The illustrations were created following an illustrated diary from a tour of Kibbutz Be'eri on 12.5.24. The face-to-face encounter with evil and cruelty shook me. The sharp contrast between the destruction, the sight and smell of the burned houses, and the chirping of birds and the blossoms was stark and made me uncomfortable. Nature, like a cheeky teenager doing whatever was on its mind, bursts through the cracks and grows wild as if nothing had happened. During the tour, I reconciled with it, rejoiced in it, and thanked it for being there.
The illustrations are currently on display in the exhibition "I Left Behind, a Home" at the Kandynoff House, Jaffa.
